ADA's Wedge Gets a Bullish Shave: OI Pops, TVL Slumps, and the $0.3 Dream

By our Markets Desk2 min read

Cardano’s price finally broke out of its multi-month sulk, snapping a falling-wedge pattern and giving the 20-day EMA a much-needed hug. The move was backed by a near-30% surge in open interest on ADA futures, suggesting fresh, hopeful money is arriving, not just shorts running for the hills.

On Wednesday’s U.S. session, $ADA jumped over 14.5% to $0.29, outpacing most major cryptos in a classic "welcome back to relevance" sprint. The rally kicked off after President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address, which reinforced a pro-crypto stance and gave the entire market a permission slip to pump.

The broader crypto market saw its cap hit $2.36 trillion, a 4.3% gain in 24 hours, with Bitcoin climbing over 6% to a cool $69,000. Meanwhile, ADA’s open interest vaulted from roughly $425 million to $550–$552 million in the same period – a 29–30% jump, according to CoinGlass, proving leverage is the universal language of FOMO.

Despite the price surge, Cardano’s DeFi TVL is on a steep decline, like a party where the music’s still going but everyone quietly left for Solana. DeFiLlama reports TVL falling from about $420 million in August 2025 to roughly $132 million now, a 68% loss, indicating waning on-chain activity and reduced DeFi engagement.

Technical analysts note the breakout pierced the wedge’s resistance line at $0.283, with the ADX sliding to 35%, hinting that buyers are finally back from their coffee break. If the momentum holds, the next psychological hurdle is $0.30, followed by potential 20% gains to $0.36 and even $0.43 for the truly ambitious degens.

In short, leveraged trading is fueling a short-term bounce worthy of a celebration tweet, but sustained growth will require Cardano’s DeFi ecosystem to remember why it built all those fancy smart contracts in the first place.
