XRP Ledger 3.2.0 Core Server Overhaul Set for June 15

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) upgrade to overhaul core server infrastructure approaches mainnet implementation next week, an XRPL Foundation contributor confirmed on Monday.

XRP community members recently inquired about the status of 3.2.0 implementation. dUNL validator Vet responded that the XRP Ledger Foundation plans June 15 as the target date. This comes shortly after the XRPL Operations team unveiled the XRP Ledger 3.2.0 upgrade last week. The update builds on the successful XRPL mainnet activation of 3.1.3 in late May, which introduced fixes for NFTs, Permissioned Domains, Vaults, the Lending Protocol, and Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPTs).

One of the most notable changes in version 3.2.0 is the renaming of the XRPL's core server software from rippled to xrpld — a rebrand intended to give the open-source ledger clearer branding as the ecosystem grows. The command-line interface now shows xrpld version 3.2.0 during checks, as CoinGape reported earlier.

Vet and Ripple developers urged validators and node operators to update to the latest version for continued network participation, since running outdated software on a network you help secure is, generally, not the move.

The upgrade will introduce substantial performance improvements, including up to 40% memory usage reductions. The changes are designed to support the network's growth in transaction volume, tokenization, and DeFi activities, and to bolster long-term stability and scalability — all without introducing new user-facing features, much to the dismay of anyone hoping for shiny new toys.

The team will focus instead on strengthening the XRP Ledger through security enhancements, including AI-powered testing and bug bounties.

This upgrade underscores the XRPL's commitment to reliability as it expands into real-world asset tokenization and stablecoin use cases. Separately, Ripple recently expanded RLUSD stablecoin support to over 40 networks through its partnership with the cross-chain interoperability protocol Wormhole.
