AI Agents Go Full Bitcoin Maximalist as Truth Terminal Joins the Million-Dollar Club

A crypto-investing AI agent called Truth Terminal just became the first robot with a wallet to hit $1 million in Bitcoin holdings—because apparently, even our silicon-brained friends have decided DCA-ing into the orange coin is the move. The autonomous system, built by developer Andy Ayre (who moonlights at an a16z-backed startup), gained fame for posting absolutely unhinged content while quietly building one of the most impressive crypto portfolios this side of a mid-tier exchange. Truth Terminal runs on Stacks, a Layer 2 solution that lets AI systems play in Bitcoin's sandbox without needing to rent out their own blockchain.

This wasn't exactly a surprise to researchers. The Bitcoin Policy Institute ran over 9,000 controlled experiments across different AI models to see what these digital minds actually prefer when left to their own devices. The results? Nearly half (48.3%) of AI systems chose Bitcoin as their go-to currency, leaving stablecoins and fiat sitting on the sidelines like kids not picked for the dodgeball team. When the question shifted to long-term storage? Bitcoin dominated with 79.1% of the vote—because apparently, machines also appreciate an asset that doesn't require trusting some human-run central bank.

Theory is one thing, but onchain activity tells the real story. According to Tenero, a multi-chain analytics platform that apparently loves Bitcoin data a little too much, the number of active AI agents on Stacks exploded from 105 to 766 in just a few weeks—that's growth even a GameStop short squeeze would respect. These digital dealmakers have moved over 491,000 satoshis while racking up thousands of onchain interactions, proving that AI agents aren't just nodding along to the Bitcoin gospel—they're actively tithe-ing to the network.

Stacks makes this possible through its Clarity smart contract language, which lets AI agents stack sats without abandoning Bitcoin's security model for some sexier alternative. While Ethereum-based protocols offer their own flavors of DeFi, Stacks keeps everything anchored to Bitcoin's base layer—an attractive proposition for systems programmed to value security and censorship resistance above all else. As AI agents continue their march toward financial independence, Bitcoin is increasingly looking like the chosen homeland for our robot overlords' treasury.
