Crypto.com Drops $1M CRO Fighter Bonuses at White House UFC Spectacle—Because Why Not Both?
Picture this: Crypto.com showing up at the White House like, "Yeah, we're that bold." The exchange is co-presenting UFC Freedom 250 on June 14, basically flexing on America's 250th birthday with the biggest fighter bonus pool in the sport's history. Because nothing says "we're serious about crypto" like stuffing cash—or tokens—in fighters' shorts at the People's House.
The exchange will distribute $1 million to selected fighters on the UFC Freedom 250 card, paid out in $CRO tokens. With $CRO recently trading above $0.068, the pool currently represents nearly 14.6 million $CRO tokens. At press time, that's enough CRO to make even the most degen gambler pause and recalculate their risk exposure. Almost 15 million tokens is a lot of "diamond hands" energy.
"This is the most historic sporting event in history, and it's a night where every single fight has the potential to be Fight of the Night," said UFC President and CEO Dana White. "Crypto.com is giving fighters the biggest bonus in UFC history, with $1 million on the line. The world will be watching on June 14." Dana really said "most historic sporting event" while standing next to the building where the Declaration of Independence was signed. No notes. Respect the confidence.
The fight card features lightweight champion Ilia Topuria against interim champion Justin Gaethje in the main event, while former two-division champion Alex Pereira seeks an unprecedented third UFC title against Ciryl Gane. Basically, someone's getting a third belt, someone's getting knockout of the year, and everyone's getting paid in crypto. The dream.
The event will stream on Paramount+ in the United States and coincides with Crypto.com's 10th anniversary. Ten years of "not your keys, not your fight night" energy, apparently. Also, Paramount+ streaming it means the average age of viewers is probably old enough to remember when crypto was just a cryptography textbook.
"I can think of no better way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Crypto.com than by making history at the White House," said Kris Marszalek, co-founder and CEO of Crypto.com. "We are humbled to join our long-standing partners at the UFC and serve as co-presenting partner of Freedom 250—an event that transcends sport." Kris really said "transcends sport" while a blockchain confirms every dollar. This man understood the assignment.
The partnership between Crypto.com and UFC dates to 2021, when the exchange became the sport's first Official Fight Kit Partner. The companies have also collaborated on official UFC digital collectibles via the Crypto.com platform. That's right, you can own a digital highlight reel of someone getting their face rearranged. The future is wild and we're all living in it.
UFC also has relationships with VeChain as a blockchain tech partner, a licensed FIGHT token on Solana and BNB Chain, and an exclusive partnership with prediction market Polymarket. Over the weekend, one Polymarket trader reportedly turned a $
